2026 Municipal Election Information

Notice of Municipal Election

Notice is hereby given that the City of Westlake, Florida will hold its Municipal Election, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, between the hours  of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 5490 Kingfisher Blvd., Westlake, Florida, 33470, for the purpose of electing Council Members from Groups 2, 4, and Mayor for a term of four (4) years, by the electorate at large. If a run-off election is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the same time and location.

A Candidate must be a registered voter in the State of Florida and have established residency in the City for at least one (1) year prior to the time of qualifying.

Candidates must file in person and may qualify with the Municipal Filing Clerk no earlier than noon, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, and no later than noon, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the office of the City Clerk located at 4001 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Westlake, Florida. Voter registration book closing is February 9, 2026, for the Municipal Election. Any person wishing to become a registered voter can complete an application form which can be obtained at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.

POR LA PRESENTE SE NOTIFICA que la Ciudad de Westlake, Florida, celebrará sus Elecciones Municipales el martes 10 de marzo de 2026, de 7:00 a.m. a 7:00 p. m., en 5490 Kingfisher Boulevard., Westlake, Florida, 33470, con el fin de elegir a los concejales de los Grupos 2 y 4, y al alcalde por un período de cuatro (4) años, por el electorado engeneral. De ser necesaria una segunda vuelta, esta se llevará a cabo el martes 24 de marzo de 2026, a la misma hora y en el mismo lugar.

Los candidatos deben estar registrados como votantes en el Estado de Florida y haber residido en la Ciudad durante al menos un (1) año antes de la fecha de elegibilidad. Los candidatos deben presentar su candidatura en persona y pueden calificar ante la secretaria Municipal de Registro antes del mediodía del martes 4 de noviembre de 2025 y antes del mediodía del miércoles 12 de noviembre de 2025, en la oficina de la secretaria municipal, ubicada en 4001 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Westlake, Florida.

de Elecciones del Condado de Palm Beach.

Pre-Filing - Intent to Run

Those who wish to run for the 2026 election, may announce at anytime. VERY IMPORTANT - You MUST file Form DS-DE9, Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository for Candidates, with the City Clerk BEFORE you collect any money toward your candidacy, spend any money in furtherance of your candidacy, or open a bank account.

Within ten (10) days of filling the DS-DE 9, you must file Form DS-DE 84, Statement of Candidate, in which you affirm that you have been provided access to read and understand the requirements of Chapter 106 of the Florida Statutes.

Once you have filed the above -mentioned form, DS-DE9, with the City Clerk, let your campaign begin.  Please make sure you download and read the Candidate and Campaign Treasurer Handbook (Latest version 2024).

Campaign Finance Report

Once you file your DS-DE 9, you are required to file campaign finance reports with the Supervisor of Elections on or before the designated due dates. All contributions collected, regardless of who contributes, must be tracked through the campaign account and must be reported. This includes any personal funds you as the candidate gives to yourself to further your candidacy. Contributions also include expenses paid for by others and must be reported as an in-kind contribution to your campaign account. Any expenditures expended throughout your candidacy must also be reported. If you have no activity in your campaign account for a certain reporting period, you may file a waiver of report. Reports shall be filed no later than midnight on the date due and must be filed through the online candidate Campaign Finance Reporting Portal. 

Campaign Report Late Fees

Pursuant to F.S. 106.07(8)(b) - A candidate who does not file a report on the designated due date, will be subject to a fine of $50 per day for the first 3 days late and, thereafter, $500 per day for each late day, not to exceed 25% of the total receipts or expenditures, whichever is greater, for the period covered by the report. However, for reports immediately preceding the primary and general elections, the fine will be $500 per day for each late day, not to exceed 25% of the total receipts or expenditures, whichever is greater, for the period covered by the late report. Such a fine shall be paid to the Supervisor of Elections within 20 days after receipt of the notice of payment due, unless an appeal is made to the Federal Elections Commission pursuant to paragraph (c). All fines are to be paid out of the candidate's personal funds and not the campaign funds. These fines cannot be reported as a campaign expenditure.
